More a collective than a race, the word Orc is more of an honorific in a forgotten language, which is now understood to roughly mean “honorable fighter.” The Orcs are a massive mercenary band, nomadic and wild. To any outsider, the Orcs are bloodthirsty savages, yearning to fight. However, anyone who has dealt with them know that the Orcs can actually be trustworthy companions… especially if there’s money or violence involved.
The Orc capital is a huge tent city, moving under its own power as it crawls across the land towards its next battle. The Orcs disdain magic and instead tend to rely on the ingenious inventions of the Gren, the race that makes up the bulk of the Orcs. It is said that the legendary and secretive Orc Lord is the only being powerful enough to keep the Orc horde together, though nobody knows exactly who or where the Orc Lord is. The Emperor is said to pay the Orc Lord a yearly tribute to keep the horde away from the city, fighting unsavory characters that might otherwise overwhelm the knightly orders. This arrangement seems to suit both the Orc Lord and the Emperor.
